What animal or insect do you dislike the most?
Bats, possum, rats, spiders???
It probably doesn’t surprise you to hear that I find most animals that people hate to be really cute. And I am a firm believer that every species has it’s place in our ecosystem. Everything has a purpose. Except mosquitos and earwigs, of course. ?
For years I’ve been wanting to paint these animals in my usual cheery style, with flowers and bright colors. To help people make a connection with the animals they normally can’t stand.
Well, I just finished the new series called “Misunderstood”, and it celebrates the less-loved (and sometimes feared) animals of the world.
But I’ve been so focused on painting, that I almost forgot to tell you about my show this weekend where they will be premiering! ?
It’s actually my first solo exhibition and I’m super excited!
The 7 new paintings will be hung during Fall Artswalk in Olympia, where all the businesses downtown have local artists hang their work and there’s lots of live music and good food.
I will be hanging at the 222 Market (which in and of itself is an amazing little hub with some of my favorite shops), and the thing I am most excited about is that Fleurae Floral is going to be doing their gorgeous flower installations around my paintings!!! ??????
It’s gonna be so cool and I just can’t stand it!!!
I will be there during the official Artswalk hours: This Friday Oct 6th from 5-10 pm, andSaturday Oct 7th from noon-5pm.
You can RSVP to the event on Facebook here.
And here is the address:
222 Market
222 Capitol Way N
Olympia, WA 98501
It would mean the world to me if you could make it!
Thanks, Hugs, and Pumpkin Spice
P.S. If you can’t make it during the opening, my paintings will be up through October :)
P.P.S. If you can’t see the image of my new series at the top of the this message, be sure to choose “view images”, which is usually at the top of the email.
